Quote: Oh...were there some copper for this yr? Yes. Very rare. Quote: Yea to flat right? You can see in best on the base of the Memorial. Quote: Thanks-just looked pretty close to couple pics on coppercoins Close isn't good enough. You are looking for an exact match. Unless you thought you might have found a new variety, in that case posting it here was a smart first step.

If this were a doubled die and 1983P-1DR-002, then all the hub doubling would show. two things to look for on these: EDS http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=edsNote the hub doubling. The area doubled are is round and not flat like a machine damaged coin could have. Note the "O" in one in these images. MDS http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=mdsNote the EPU. Not the doubling on that area. Looks a lot like the 001 on the EPU. That is probably what I would look for first on the attribution for this die. I don't see it on the OP's coin.

The reason I asked about the weight is that there are some copper ones out there, 3.1g and the lack of plating bubbles on your coin made me wonder. John1

Thanks guys-and well I'm picking up a decent amount from I guys anyway-just not the double dies yet and that's prob because I haven't found any true ones yet-but after your question john I looked over this cent more and had a feeling it was the lack of zinc issues and or bubbles on this one-I looked for a Popsicle stick to do the weight/scale thing but couldn't find one and got busy-need to get a good gram scale like I said had to return one that I bought so gotta find a good one
