Yep, I think I might have to pick up a few of these. The price can't be beat. Any takers?

I don't know if I'm crazy, but those look fake. The devices look flat and the coin just has a much too strong "gold" color to it. Real gold eagles have a slight "red" to them as some copper is alloyed in with the coin.

But then again, I could be crazy.

One *must* admit, though, that they're getting better every year.

A couple of these passed as genuine a month back and I managed to track down the source. Turns out it was the same source as the fake 2011 Silver Eagles that passed into circulation in Toronto back in February of 2013. China's really ramping up their their production and at ~$2 a pop, a lot of greedy folks cannot resist sourcing them for nefarious purposes.

So for informational purposes, what is the exact source ? Or are we just in general, indicting a whole country and 4 billion people ?

@denco7: These are easily available on alibaba or aliexpress for $2-$3 a piece. Now they also have Maples, believe it or mot Pandas, Kookaburras, and other silver. They also have fake numismatic replicas that are extremely convincing.

A specific manufacturer in Guangdong province China that sells them to a number of trading posts and "dealers" of ill repute who then turn around and sell them on Alibaba, ebay, Craigslist and other places.

Indeed! The variety nowadays is stunning, and with the demand things like tungsten-core fake gold is becoming more "affordable." :-(
