This is my first post thank you guys for welcoming me here. I just recently stumbled upon an old coin. I will take a picture of it if people are interested but my camera quality is pretty lame so you won't be able to make out the fine details. This one is from Legion VIII. My main goal is to find out if it's real or a replica. I have identified what it is but can someone tell me what I should do to find out? Thanks in advance.

Give me about 2 minutes. I have a bad camera phone so it will appear that I took the picture from a toaster or maybe even a toothbrush but give me just a second.

Nice coin if it is real. Can you use the image optimizer to crop it and perhaps enlarge it? Looks like a candidate for PhoenicianX cleaning method.

I don't really know how to go about doing that. I don't have an image optimizer unless you could do it in like paint or something haha.

When you go to upload a photo, there is an option to use the image optimizer. It is right under "upload image".

It looks ok to me, but whilst we wait for the experts, have a look at the wildwinds page here:

I tried to enhance your pictures a bit but wasn't able to make them any better. It's difficult to say if it's real or not. My first impression is that it's a copy. You don't often find this type in this nice of condition. Can you give us the size and weight?

Now that's a coin I would love to clean! The boat kind of looks something that would have been minted in the province of Phoenicia though

I apologize for the delay in response time, the page had a 404 error for a while. I am definitely wanting to sell it I just have no idea where to start or even if it's worth selling. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

First you have to establish whether it is real or not. To do that, we need better pics. There are a lot of copies about, we need to find out whether your coin is real.

I don't have a computer with enough megapixels to take a better picture. However friends of mine have some but that will be over the next couple of days. Other than that what would help determine whether or not it's real?
