So I kicked it around for a while, and I decided to take the plunge. I always have enjoyed looking at classic silver commems, especially when they are in a nice circulated grade. I have decided to tackle the type set in VF. My first coin comes from a PCGS forum member. A 1921 Missouri 2*4. A solid VF with nice grey surfaces, and just the right amount of dirt. These are the seller pics. I also bought a raw Lincoln off of ebay last week. This coin is a circulated collector's dream. You just couldn't find a more perfect coin. I will update this thread as I add more.

Nice coins! I like the even circulation wear seen on each. You will find several kindred spirits hear on CCF for circulated US commemorative coins. I'm sure one or more of them will be along shortly to welcome you to their "inner circle." In the meantime, check out threads started by nickelsearcher and HONDO -- they have regularly updated their progress on their own circulated sets here on CCF. Good luck with your set! I look forward to seeing your updates.

LogPotato, I have envied you with your Barber coins now I will enjoy your progression with these wonderful coins. My classic set has taken me a lifetime to accumulate in xf to ms and I still have 5 to go for the type set. Good luck in your new focus.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I really like a challenge, and I was sure this would present a tough one. But some of the P01 guys are real gluttons for punishment. That has to be about as tough as you can make this set.

Welcome LogPotato to the wonderful pursuit of honestly circulated classic silver commemorative. Your initial 2 coins are lovely examples ... very appealing in their overall look. I suggest that your goal of a circulated type set is admirable ... albeit a true numismatic challenge. I'm at six years of dedicated searching and still need 3 coins to complete the type set. Wishing for you the very best in your search for these coins ... The search for circulated classic commemorative has provided for me the best collecting joy of all my coins ... and I wish for you the same experience and enjoyment. Truly looking forward to any new coins you post ... and will offer whatever support I can as you begin this challenging collecting adventure. David

Nice coins! Your post has me tempted to join the pursuit or at least learn about them and maybe add a few to the growing collection.

I'm mulling over adding the Rhode Island and Lexington Concord to my collection. Is there a big market for counterfeit and/or replicas to watch out for? I'm not going to just buy but do research and wait for right deal. Do these coins have investment upside buying graded? I'm newer to collecting and have never splurged for graded coins. Are these coins common in LCS? I live in new england so I'd imagine there would be more out this way of the 2 I'm targeting and maybe I'll expand from there

Yes, My focus is mostly on VF. I may stray to Fine or XF if they have the right look and frankly that's all I might find for a certain issue. I am fully expecting this set to take a very long time. I wanted something to look for at shows other than barbers, but it had to be a challenge(and somewhat affordable) and it had to be half dollars. This set is the perfect fit for me.
