So I was up in Kings Canyon National Park the past couple days doing some camping. While at the grant grove visitors center and noticed one of those souvenir penny machines. The kind with the crank and it smashes a design into your penny. Well I had my backpack with me which usually has some wheat cents in it and I got an idea.

Now I've got a pretty cool new hobby inside of the hobby. If anyone wants to try this, make sure Lincolns head is facing to the left when you put it into the slot.
Rest in Peace

I always carry a few spare wheats just for this.

I got started back in '70 when my coin club gave these away to all the junior members.

I've done this before with Pre-82 Memorial cents.

BTW, I was going to say that for all those Wheat Cents you don't want, i'll gladly take them off your hands! :)

I personally find the wheat pennies so rarely that I am very reluctant to part with them. So far I've gone through over 255,000 pennies and have found only 1.400 wheats. That's about a 4% find rate. Copper pennies are still out there.

I carry wheats with me just for that occasion also. I even do worn out and slightly damaged Indians. They make a much nicer looking token than any of the zincolns. I won't even mash post 1982 cents.

They have those machines at the Zoo where I usually take my grand daughter and we make some of those for her every time we go. Something for her to remember me by.
