Been a while since I posted a you vs. PCGS thread. Mostly because most slabs I get are NGC with world coins in them. Not that I get many slabs lately...

But here's one. Courtesy of Liberty Coin for your grading pleasure:

BU Roosevelt dimes mostly aren't worth the slabbing fee unless they are very high grade, like MS-67. This coin is mint state all right, but what's going on with the diagonal lines across the obverse? If those were on the coin it would likely deserve an "MS Details - Cleaned" grade. I'll assume the marks are just on the slab, in which case the grade is likely still limited by the distracting dark spots on the obverse which should preclude the super-gem grade level. The toning looks original but not exceptional. The photos are too small to see if perhaps a Full Bands designation is possible.

Based on these photos I'd go MS-64. Maybe the coin looks better in-hand....

Don't know what that dark spot is... Scratches are definitely on the slab. Coin graded problem-free.

MS-63?

I've never attempted to grade Roosevelt dimes before.
Rest in Peace

You-Vs.-PCGS:-1955-D-Roosevelt-Dime

I was surprised at the grading you guy gave this. My guess when looking at the coin would be MS-65 - MS-67.
I guess if you think about it, It's not worthwhile to slab a Roosevelt dime under MS-65, the 1955-D being the 3rd lowest mintage in the series.
This was my purchase from the free $20 ebay coupon Liberty Coin sent me.
