I thought this was neat. This coin is smaller than a US Dime.

It has some die cracks going on, but you can also clearly see the leaves from the reverse on the obverse between the letters, and the letters from the obverse on the reverse between the leaves and the rim.

The 8 is also re-engraved. It's like that on most, if not all, of the examples I've seen of this date, along with the little "tail" next to the digit.

Nice clash and really interesting coin; my first impression...there is another digit beneath the 8.
I don't have any overdates from Chile, but Krause lists a 1908/2, so that little flag under the 8 could be the bottom stroke of the 2?
Often, only the deepest portions of digits are left. The circles over the condor sure look like lathe lines--machining to the die blank before hubbing.
There is a 1908/1 and 1908/2, both with modest premiums over the 1908--fun coin!

Ah, lathe lines, yes.. I've only ever seen those in the fields. Those must have been some pretty good grooves to have not been obliterated during hubbing.

I'll see if I can find examples of the 8/1 and 8/2 to compare. I really love that the die clash is so obvious and clear on it. Thanks for taking a look

Yeah--the condor was raised on the hub, so it pushed the lines deeper into the die. When the fields were polished, the lines in the design remained.
