Your Final Value Fees should be refunded but you'd be out the shipping expense. You might "win" by having eBay/PayPal refund the buyer and you get to keep the money too. The Buyer will almost certainly get their money back even if it's not from you. Good luck.

Well, I had better not lose any money off of it. I'm curious to see what happens.

Yeah, you might be out the shipping, but the buyer will have to pay to ship it back to you.

What I see is that most sellers do whatever in order to not receive a negative feedback.

After I responded to the case, I expected him to respond, but he hasn't since his initial case reason. Will I be able to tell when the case escalates to ebay, and what the result is?

Just follow ebay's lead. They will move things along. It's SOP for them.

ebay will notify you when/if he escalates. Also, be aware that your "No return" policy is worthless on ebay. If for any legitimate reason the buyer wants to return it, he can, regardless of your policy.

oh, and from what you said, he has no legit reason to return it.

Exactly. The ebay rep said I had everything covered, so I don't think I'll lose the case. It's not my fault he took a gamble.

Just make sure if ebay is going to enforce a return, you click on the option return for refund. Having a no return policy can make ebay think you don't want your item returned when a refund is issued. Several times sellers have been hurt by their no refund policy. Double check everything you read. Post your question on the ebay seller central forum boards, you will get experienced help. ebay has refunded money from a sellers account before without having the buyer return the item. This is do to some sellers not wanting their item back, mainly because it wasn't worth them paying return shipping, especially in manged returns. Please be careful.

Sorry I have not updated. I am on vacation. I lost the case now. I think it is stupid. How do you appeal? It probably will not make a difference but I want to try it. Do I get my fees back? When I get back to my computer I will give a link etc. It is hard to type on this kindle.

You will get your fees back but work through ebay to insure this occurs. Also, the buyer must pay return shipping and should get back exactly what you shipped to them. Sorry this didn't work out but try to chalk it up to experience and move on.

I'm also sorry it didn't work out for you. I would proceed with an appeal, try and get an American customer service representative. They do exist. I would also post your issue on the Seller Central ebay discussion boards. There are many expert sellers, who can give valuable tips on how to proceed on ebay! The site map will direct you to the discussion boards, it's at the bottom of ebay pages. The first thing they will tell you, get rid of the no return policy. Accepting Paypal you except returns. Change your return policy to 14 days, and buyer pays for return shipping with tracking/ delivery confirmation. Many buyers will be put off by, having to pay return shipping with delivery confirmation. This is my policy and I've had 2 returns in 200 sales. You really need to understand the ins & outs of selling on ebay, so you can protect yourself. Look carefully at the spring sellers update and the changes that are being rolled out. Know the rules and use them to your advantage. Too many sellers are their own worst enemy by not knowing ebay policy or following it. It's not a full proof method, however, it makes a sellers life a litte easier. Good Luck on your appeal!!

I've also heard on seller central, your fees aren't refunded when you lose a case. Since the buyer filed a case this will count as 1 defect, you are only allowed a total of 8 defect, scored by 8 different buyers. In order to get FVF back, you need to send a request to cancel sale. If the buyer doesn't agree you don't get the fees back. However if they ignore the request, you close it after 7 days and you get fees refunded. Again if no one takes action and the request expires, no fees will be refunded either. I hope this helps you for the future. How much is your FVF? Is the buyer wanting to just return the one or all three? I don't know anything out the value of fishing lures and I find the topic interesting.

Yes, ebay will side with a buyer who wants to return an item nearly all the time, regardless of no return policy. Might as well have a 14 day return policy since that's what they essentially get anyways...
