I sold a fishing lure lot of 3 the other night, and it bid way up. I was shocked and later found out which one they were looking at. I stated in the listing that I thought it had been repainted. I shipped it to the buyer and I got a message today saying that the lure had been repainted and he wants his money back. Great, now I'm going to have to go through ebay probably to get this worked out. What do you guys think about this?

Just another "dissatisfied buyer because he didn't bother reading the auction." What can you say about it? A measurable percentage of ebay buyers are straight-up imbeciles.

Yeah I know, this is just great. I'm sure I'll have to go through ebay and everything else now.

He's got 3600 feedback 100% positive. I still don't think that should matter. I've only got 118. I also said no returns in my listing. ebay will side with me, right?

You'll probably have to accept the return and issue a refund. It's part of ebay's business model to appease the customer first. The customer being the buyer, NOT the seller who pays the ebay fees. It's worth challenging the customer if a significant amount of $$ is involved though. Good luck.

I will not accept it back unless ebay says I have to. It said in the listing "the middle lure may be repainted". He said "the lure is repainted, so I want a refund". He didn't act mad or anything, he just wanted a refund. With my no return policy, I see no reason why I should have to accept it back.

If you said nk returns and if it clearly said "repainted" in your listing then you should challenge it. Your case is strong and I think ebay will side with you on this one.

ebay basically said I had everything covered in the listing, tell him to open a case.

Okay, he finally said he will open a case. When/if he does, I will get a message right? What do I need to do then?

Explain everything to him, including the no-return policy, the comment that talked about the repainting and say that you cannot refund him for his error in not reading the listing. If he doesn't hear what he wants from you which would be full compliance, he will escalate the case to ebay in 3 days time. At this point explain the situation to ebay, politely, but using strong language and they should side with you. -zx

In my experience, even with a clear accurate description and a no return policy, ebay will just have buyer return item and you refund the money.

Yeah, I responded to the case and said all of those things including that I never said that it was a specific lure, I said it may have been repainted, and I offer no returns. I guess he can respond to that and then in 3 days he will send it up to ebay right?

You are perfectly within your rights to fight it. I probably wouldn't. Just don't have the time to mess with stuff like that. I'd probably just issue the refund, and relist the item.

Well, if that is the case, why is there a no refund option? I'm not going to lose money off of his mistake. There is a sizable final value fee I would lose including the shipping which isn't that cheap.
