Hmmm...with the cracks, I'm interested to know what the experts think. I know that there was at least one reverse die on the 22 Plain that had cracks (markers for that die), but I don't recall one with multiple cracks like yours.

Yeh, I've seen that die crack pattern on other 1922 LWC's. That's legit. But the color looks WAY off. I strongly suspect it's been cleaned (dipped).

Nice 3 crack example! It appears to have been whizzed.

Well, after I closed my mouth at those amazing cracks, I looked at everyone's results and then went back to actually look at the coin. Agree, MS Details - cleaned.

Very sharp strike. I agree the color is way off. Still a nice coin IMO.

OK, thanks, I'm sending it in anyway and will let you know the results. I really liked the strike too. I was hoping that it wasn't cleaned, and hoping my photography skills changed the color, but I trust your opinions. Hard to buy a raw coin like this from pictures without being an expert. Looks like I'll be owning it for a while. Thanks. Ed

Wow, What a bold date on that coin, and the die cracks... Cleaned then artificially toned

Sorry my pictures weren't better. It doesn't look that much off color in hand. I think I fell in love with the cracks and the terrific obverse strike. At least I like it so won't mind owning it for while.

Coin graded 55 Details polished. Thought the 55 was a bit harsh, but can't argue with the details. You guys had it correct. Next time I'll ask first. I'm having a conversation with Fairviewcoins to see if they'll take it back for a full refund, or else give me a significant refund to keep it. Funny, with all it's problems I still like the coin a little bit. update: fairviewcoins apologized and said they will issue a full refund plus $30 towards my grading costs. They get a

As expected, the coin has definitely been worked on. I'm surprised Fairview even sold that coin without disclosure that it was cleaned. It would have saved them a lot of money. While they do deserve a thumbs-up for taking care of you, I still have to give them a thumbs-down for selling an obviously altered coin.
