I just read somewhere that Congress is proposing a bill would authorize the mint to commemorate the War of 1812. It doesn't specify if the commemorative is a silver dollar or a $5.00 gold piece. Does anyone know more information about it?

Wonder if it will be like this when and if it happens. I'm guessing this is just an everyday medal per say, but I really like the design. Simple yet very detailed. To me, a well thought out design...


Not sure where this came from, but according to the "coin issuance" section, I'm guessing this bill never got passed. Interesting reading though.

I found out where I read the paragraph. It was in the most recent issue of Coinage Mag. The bill will also include a commemorative to the Star Spangled Banner. I'm not sure if the bill will combine the two in one commemorative or they will be separate issues.
