Going through my Dads belongings I found what may be some sort of medal.I don't think it was his though. It may be made of brass,it is the size and shape of an Iron Cross,on the left hand side it has U.C. then a line or dash across the middle then on the right hand section it has the numbers/year 1917.
On the top section is a hole for a pin, chain, string whatever to fix it to a uniform possibly.I have had no luck at all and hope someone has some knowledge or can point me in the right direction.Thankyou, Tim.

You can post a picture of it in the ID section. You will most likely get your answer there.

I don't know if this will help you but I just entered U.C. 1917 and did a search. It led to German submarines.

I think your family history will be a big help in finding out what the medal is. Who was alive then? If it is a military medal, you need to know if anyone had a long military career and if not, then look for someone who was in their twenties in 1917.

Good luck.
