A combo of die cracks, chips and some PMD hit marks.
Die Deterioration. Very common on a lot of the 50's cents.
If not pulled, this die would eventually lead to breaks.
Prone to areas of the head.

First off it is a keeper. It has a lot of die cracks,I don't think there is any lamination. It is also a VLDS,worn die.

VLDS = Very Late Die State.

This is definitely a keeper. Those cracks in the head are pretty cool. The other cracks and die chips or breaks in the date just add to the coolness.

There were many examples of VLDS in the 1950's wheat cents. They were over used and they show a lot of strange things. But being common reduces the desirability for for these.
