I assume Machine Doubling but it's directly above the first stamp. Interesting example. Whatcha think?

Look at the numbers peak with lower protrusions on either side of the top numbers.

funny on closer exam it has the appearance of 3 layers.

When you look too closely at something, everything seems possible. The 1968-1972 cents suffered a lot of machine damage. This is very common on these years. I don't get excited about them as I save the extreme ones for educational images in case someone has a question about Machine Doubling. Then I can pull out my stash and find an example.

Machine damage can vary from strike to strike. These were round in a OBW roll and you can see the same markers on all the coins. Note how they are different from strike to strike.
