I was wondering if this is man made or an actual error. It's looks like a mirror image date, perhaps? Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

If you are referring to the marks between the E and D, I believe it is a contact mark ( PMD).

Thank you. I thought it looked like a re-punched date. I'm also curious as to what would cause this?

Looks to me like a really deep hit from the reeding of another Morgan. This could happen if someone tossed a full bag of Morgans onto a pile of them - that's 60lbs of silver falling onto another similar bag and such an impact could drive one coin into the next one with a bunch of force.

I agree and that would mean it's not PMD.

PMD. It may have happened at the mint or at a bank receiving bags, but it was not caused during the actual minting of the coin.

Anything that happens to the coin after the completion of the strike is PMD. Doesn't matter if it happened inside the mint building or after it left the building. The Mint in Post Mint Damage is actually shorthand for Minting. It does confuse some people, especially newbies.
