I thought I heard somewhere that the 1916 Buffalo DDO was actually Hub Doubling. Anyway, when looking at this coin online, the doubling on the feathers sometimes isn't nearly as clear as other examples and I was also told that there is a die line to the jaw from the first braid. There are several I see haha! I have an example that I thought some of you might look at for me. On the first top left feather I feel like I see some doubling northward, yet on some of the examples I've looked at, the doubling is seen south from feather. I wouldn't consider myself very familiar with the series so when I read of doubling in other areas and with all the lines used for detail on the Buffalo nickel it all just blends together...On this example, the date is obviously tricky but I thought there was some doubling seen. Now it could be Machine Doubling but hey worth a shot

The 1916 DDO is a slam-dunk attribution, having some of the most prominent date doubling of any coin ever struck in the US. Even on a worn example such as presented here, it would be plainly obvious to the naked eye.

Hey thanks SsuperDave. I guess I just thought some of the numbers on my coin were really thick and may have hid the doubling some due to wear...time to take a break on this one lol! There are a lot of No date Buffalo nickels out there so I figured like on some coin types you could look for die markers or other signs to help differentiate. Make the hay stack smaller so to speak

Sorry I saw this before I said no more for the day lol! Since I considered it Hub Doubling the Liberty on my coin caught my eye. Again, I need a 1916 anyway so not trying to over reach but may be something to consider

I can see how you might think this is the DDO, but it's not.
