I think this is an interesting coin. 6.1g. What do you think?

Is it the gouges on the surfaces that makes it weigh less?

The planchet was too thin. When the coin was struck there was not enough metal to fill all the space between the dies.

It does have severe PMD and that could very easily explain the weight shortage.

I guess I need to re-think this one. The radial pattern of the voids and light weight make me think planchet.

I think the radial voids are just where someone has scratched into the coin.

But the fields are the HIGHEST part of the die and they are what make contact with the planchet first. The fields of the coin are the FIRST part of the coin that is fully formed. If a planchet was thin enough that the fields were not fully formed it would be a lot more underweight and most of the devices and lettering would be missing as well.

I can't see this as PMD. Of course I might be wrong. I submitted it to anacs. I'll post the results. This one is kinda driving me crazy.
