There are several 1983-P LMC Cuds that look very similar. My guess is this might be a CU-1c-1983-12 ( cuds-on-coins.com), but I am certainly not sure. Any help or opinions would be welcomed and appreciated. Thank you.

Just practising Cud ID's here. CU-1c-1983-12 like similar, but so does CU-1c-1983-09. Stage of this Cud differs a tad bit from both. Thanks, Doug.

The problem is that some of these can be from the same die in transitional breaking down. Best to find a marker that matches. But even that might be hard.

If looking for die markers, look on the reverse die. Usually a good indicator.

John, I am not familiar with the term: "pre-cuds", do you have a picture of these?

Die markers would be a good way for that Cud site to progress. Otherwise, people are going to think they have an example of for instance "CU-1c-1983-02" similar to Sudz coin, but, his coin is not from the same dies. I don't see any example listed with the same die markers or Cud as Sudz coin. All of the Cuds listed in the same location are not exactly the same if you look really close. Die stages make a difference in that a Cud can grow in later stages. So, other markers need to be found for each of those that are listed if possible.

I like that Cud site a lot. I am not concerned, I just wanted to clarify that others might interpret what they have to actually be a different Cud but, it really does not matter because a Cud is a Cud. The value is in the error not the die that made it. There are probably hundreds of the 1983 Cuds made from different dies that are all located in the same area making it difficult if not impossible to catalog them all. They must have had a problem that year with something that caused all of the Cuds in the same area. Die markers can be hard to nail down because of die states. Die gouges that are on fresh dies are the best but, not always present.
