pretty sure it's PMD (the legends and inscriptions appear to be stretched along with the planchet) but can see no tool marks and the rims are raised and intact (which I wouldn't expect for a "run over by forklift" etc).

weight is dead on with typical 1998 but the color and texture is bizarre (typical for corrosion?)

Copper-plated zinc planchet, correct? In the US, it is called a "Texas Penny" because, you know, everything is bigger in Texas It is achieved by hammering a coin between two pieces of leather and most of the copper plating is removed during the process. Zinc planchets work the best since they are softer than other compositions.

A "Texas Penny" sounds interesting. I have never heard of that.

The dark color & surface bubbling makes me think this particular cent has been heated & distorted with an oven or torch.
