Progressive Indirect Design Transfer(PIDT), it might look like a die clash at first glance but it is just another form of die wear.

Here's the funny thing... I have several of these all 1946 But a few S mint marks and then D's...funny it was occurring at both places, same year.

Synonyms include "internal metal displacement phenomenon", "heavy design transfer", and "ghosting". But I prefer PIDT as it's the most descriptive term.
Error coin writer and researcher.
