Check out this ebay rare coin seller's feedback: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...backAsSellerI tally ~$50,000 worth of rare coin fraud in less than 1 week. All of this could have been stopped if ebay had not changed their reporting rules a few months ago. This crook is just an omen of things to come on ebay.

Ugh. He didn't even ship the stuff. All of the positive ratings at the bottom make me wonder if they were fake. For example the "SUPER TRANSACTION" and the "FAST EASY AND NICE" ones surrounded with all the symbols and crap.

After looking into feedback and time frame could it be possible the seller is fighting for his life in a Hospital.

If he is incapacitated (sick, dead or jail) the money might still be in his Paypal account (Unless he has it set up for auto transfers).
I'm guessing sick or dead.

Beautifully done investigating, g0.
I really wonder how they went about planning "I'm going to scam with coins by faking my death", it's just one of the weirdest plans I've ever heard of and they tried it, jeez.
Updating just because it's not 100% sure this is true

There are several Tom Cassata's in Illinois. It COULD be any one of the other ones.
It could be fraud, it could be death or illness. At this point we do not know.

His father was named Thomas, but, he died many years ago. There are no other Tom Cassata's in Palatine or Rockford Illinois. This was a nice scam. He used a dead mans ID opened up an ebay and Paypal account under his ID. He waited until he achieved Top Rated status so the people he scammed on ebay could not leave him negative feedback(people must wait 8 days before leaving negs for top rated sellers). He bought his car + boat + enagagement ring Bullion on ebay with the stolen money in his Paypal account and headed out of Illinois leaving a man that died a year ago to take the fall.

Be interesting to see how this plays out and how long it takes to catch up with who ever "he" really is.

I agree, it was definitely a very well-thought out crime. Very nice detective work g048406.
I wonder if his soon-to-be fiancée has any idea lol
