I was in the process of removing all my coins from old books my Dad get me years ago to 2 X 2 holders..I have had these coins in coin roller tubes for a while..Now here is the heartbreaking story...Four days ago I brought tons of not needed coins back to the Bank..I picked up the tube(s) with my dimes from 1937 - 1990 and now the bank has them... WHAT A STUPID MISTAKE I MADE

That's horrible! You'll make some roll hunter very, very happy though. Did you check and see if there was any chance the bank still had them?

I used to work at a fairly large commercial bank and a lot of our coin stayed around. It may be worth checking.

This is just the exact scenario I was chastised about last week on another thread on this forum.
Check with you bank, it never hurts to ask. Most likely you won't see them again. At least you've got good memories
I feel bad for you.

And here's the kicker, if you don't get them soon they will be melted unless someone else asks for some old dimes. What was the condition of them?

Quote: Anyone know Dr. kevorkian's telephone number off hand You're out of luck there. Happy Jack's dead. That sucks. Always double and triple check the boxes you take back! The unfortunate case in this is that I doubt they'd get to a possible roll hunter, the second they'd find plastic tubes they'd probably know something is special about them and off to alloy recovery they'd go (I'd figure). I wish you luck on Monday, hopefully the bank wasn't too big of one was it? (You'd have more luck if it's a smaller bank)

Any rolls I take to the bank have my mark on them, an easy to see big black felt marker line scribble. I got 5 rolls once all with a blue marker line around them and in those rolls where 2 bare belly beavers and tons of exceptionally good condition nickels from the 1960s up. One of those bare belly's is to this day the largest bare belly I ever found, sold it as is for $90 at that time. Hope you manage to find your coins, I've also rolled up the wrong coins a few times, a little different though coming from your dads collection.
