I took the opportunity that my wife 'lent' me her Canon PowerShot camera to take group photos of my early copper collection. Group photos are impossible with my current camera. I think they are a bit better than my usual - however, still not happy with the definition, or with the colour. I also need to find a proper background for the coins, maybe one evoking episodes of early US history.
One of these days I will have to invest in proper photo equipment, I guess.
Anyway, here they are. The photos show the early pieces, not the middle or late dates.

You may want to move this to the photography section to garner advice. The Canon Powershot is a capable little camera. Assuming you are already using the macro function on the camera you may want to try shooting these pics outside in natural daylight. When I used this point and shoot I would take pics out on my lanai when the sunlight was just "right". Gave me some really nice coin shots with great color.

Fabulous collection. I think the pics need more contrast to pick up the copper surfaces.

Thanks guys. If a moderator can move this thread to the proper section
I would appreciate it.

I am finding the red background helps me better pick up the true color of copper, but it is still not perfect. Also, I am holding the camera with my hands, and I am guessing that is not optimal. A tripod makes sense.
The PowerShoot is much better than my little Samsung, though, so I will keep practicing until my wife retrieves her camera.

Did you acquire those in the US and take them to Germany, or did you acquire them outside of the US?

Great looking collection.

Try putting some interesting items in the photo composition along with the coins, ala Helfenstein catalogue (first auction catalogue that had color photos) by Lester Merkin,

Something else to jazz up the photo possibly? Your EACs are

AMAZING COLLECTION!!

I personally like Westcoin's idea. I've always wanted to do something like that, but never really had the coins to do it. You, on the other hand, have the perfect opportunity.

I also agree with your conjecture over the red background. It looks a lot better.

To the photography ... I can offer no support there ...
