Hey guys, I've been a long time looker but finally signed up to the forum. I enjoy lookin at your guys' coins but at the same time I feel so insignificant posting this LOL. Either way it was exciting (for me) to get this morgan at such a good price. I'm no expert so I'm not completely sure of the value at whatever grade this coin is. I just wanted to share and see if anyone else could give any insight on the grade of my new acquired Morgan. I also had to search some tips for getting the best pic possible of my coin to show everyone! LOL @ my crop job so sorry for that *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Edit: Tutorial Between G-6 and VG-8, nearly a hundred dollar coin. Maybe an old cleaning. A nice coin, not insignificant. Here's a better cropping job if you want to keep the images saved to your computer or mobile device. If you want, you can upload one of the images here: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...?FORUM_ID=20 to use it as your avatar, if you wish to do so. MAKING YOUR IMAGES BETTER: (by Cruisinfusion)On a Mac... Drag the image to your home dock or desktop Then, double click the icon to make it larger. It should appear as a small window at the top of your screen, so... Make the window larger by dragging the corners. Once in preview and the window is at a decent size, click the pencil button [1]. Then, click the crop button [2]. Last, choose the elliptical selection (circular selection) . Drag the circular selection around the edges of the coin using the four dots until it fits perfectly. Finally, press COMMAND K (the command button and then the letter K) to crop the image. Tah-dah! I then find the measurements of the image (In this case, it was 355x355 for the obverse, and the reverse was larger so I had to optimize them to be the same size). I have a paint program where I can choose how large I want the painting to be, so I chose 710x355, then selected both images and pasted them side-by-side to create the picture that has both the obverse and the reverse. Here are examples of some of my coins that I've done this with:

G6 to VG8 There is no shame buying coins like this ... at the right price. For it's grade it is a nice looking coin.

Thanks I picked this up in an airtite along with a very worn 1883 morgan for 60 bucks. BBut man... some of the other BU morgans on here /DROOOLL. I alos have a big interest in Silver bars. I'm honestly not so sure why aside from the eye appeal. But I've been collecting alot of different designs and really enjoy looking at them.

Welcome and thanks for the photos, they're certainly good enough to allow for a reasonably accurate grading of this coin.
I think your 1890-CC just makes VG8. I concur with the comment above that despite its being well circulated, it's not an "insignificant" piece.

to the Community glad you joined. Congrats on your first Morgan dollar purchase. I started out wanting one silver dollar in my collection. Here I am 15 years and almost 200 Morgans later, I am always looking to add another silver dollar to my collection. -MV
