I have been collecting coins for about 6 months now and I have to say my oldest and absolute favorite coin is this 1867 3ct Piece that I received from my girlfriend for my 21st birthday! :) Hope you all enjoy! Note: I collect on the behalf of historical value not flawlessness, I don't want its wear and tear to take away from how cool this coin really is! SO WITHOUT FURTHER A DO... ,Trevor

to the forum! It is always great to see another younger collector get excited about coin collecting. A neat project for someone new to the hobby would be a basic type set of the different denominations of coinage produced by the U.S. mint over the last 200+ years. Here is a link to a good example of a type set put together by a CCF member EFLargeCents. https://goccf.com/t/178237

Wow ! Thanks for the feedback! That looks very fun to do! Yeah, I've been collecting for about 6 months now and I know it's going to play (already does) a huge roll in my life! Thanks, Trevor.

A 7070 type set is a good way to get started. You can do it at your own pace, and enjoy the various designs. It took me over 30 years to finally complete mine!

Or another thing that I find fun with 3cn is to collect the errors and varieties. The early years had so many problems since this was the first time the the mint used nickel. You can find tons of clashes. And look up Longacre doubling, this series is notorious for it. !
