Hi,

Firstly, I'd like an identification of this object and its approximate value.

What we have here is non-magnetic metal circular object with the exact same anchor imprinted onto both sides of the coin.

A couple of observations make me feel that this item is old:

1) Neither anchor is centered exactly onto the field of the coin.

2) The denticle-like objects lining the perimeter of both sides obviously do not uniformly possess the same distance from the edge of the coin all 360 degrees around.

Also,

a) The area within the lining of the anchor(s) is completely level to the fields surrounding the lining(s).

b)The lining demarcation(s) is incuse into the surface of the coin.

As the "anchor" has no top loop, have you considered that it may be a stylised letter "T", upside down?

I agree It is a stylized T could be some form of check like a tool check coat check etc.

From the looks of it, this appears to be a hand-made token. As such it will be nearly impossible to identify with any certainty--you would have to find another one identical to yours to be sure. This could be a token or chip used by a private business, or it could be as unique as a trinket made by a bored worker in a metal shop.

As a shot in the dark, when flipped upside down, the "T" looks like one would expect to see in a university. Maybe this is an old keepsake from a fraternity--sort of like the challenge coins kept by some in the armed forces?
