I recently had a 2012 proof silver limited edition set slabbed by pcgs. They some how did not put the "limited edition" designation on the Silver Eagle or the Hawaii quarter. Should I leave them as is or should I send them back to have them corrected? Any dollar value added leaving them as is? goldbill.

I think you have to pay extra for some special descriptions.

The Proof ASE and the silver Hawaii quarter were issued outside of the LE set in high (relatively) numbers. I would think that without the LE designation on the slab, any added value would be lost. I definitely would send them back. The entire added value (if any) of having that set slabbed, is in having all the coins designated as having come from the LE set.

I would call first before you send them back. You also need to factor in the price of shipping, insurance, etc...

Thanks to all for your input. I decided to follow advice to resubmit for correct labeling. PCGS refers to this as a mechanical error, no fees to me and they reimburse me for shipping. Thanks again for the feedback.

Goldbill, be sure to report back when you get them back and confirm the reimbursed you for the shipping. Always in the past the coin owner has had to eat the shipping.

Greetings all, PCGS did send me a check for the shipping cost to have my 2 coins re-labeled. Thought all would like to know.

Does anyone know if NGC has the same type of reimbursement program?

Mdpmedia About 2 years ago I sent a obvious error slab (1883 Liberty nickel labeled as no cents when it was a with cents). It was considered a Mechanical Error and all charges were covered by NGC. I had to send them receipts too..

So an error on their part they'll reimburse fees and correct. An error on my part I'm out. Sounds fair to me, that's the way it should be. My fault my dime, their fault their dime.
