Nice coin... From what I am seeing, it looks like a flaw in the planchet and not in the die?

Is the 'Crack' raised above the field of the coin or is it sunk below the field.

Thanks, all. Sometimes, I don't write the terminology correctly. Yes, it looks like a flaw planchet and the "crack" is below the surface. I took some magnifications to show the details.

Well what the heck, to the title just tossing in this sample of a 1940 with die crack.

Close-up. It connects the tail and leg.

This coin is in a relatively early die state and the die cracks are not yet developed enough to tie them to a Zoell variety number, but looks like it would develop into a FL441v.

Adding more examples of 1940 die cracks. The lighting has to be just right to get a clear photo. If its not, the die crack can literally be invisible.

To be fair, one has to see a few die cracks before they become easier to recognize and these are only some examples but theres many, many more on all years of King George VI 50c. The work identifying and documenting specific varieties that began with people like Zoell and was continued by others like Paul (our 50c forum guru) is absolutely a dedication that is amazing.

This is a cool one. The die crack runs all the way from the left rim to the Lion's flagpole, though "50 cents" to the right rim. (upper portion of Zoell variety FL441zp)

And some die cracks appear more like slashes.

That's the last of my King Geo 50c for this round. While some of you may be thinking Thank Goodness for that, anyone else with varieties to add, feel free to add them as it's a helpful reference.
