Hi,

My father was an avid coin collector. He passed away last month, and we're wondering what to do with all these coins since none of us know anything about it.

He has quite a few with ICCS certificates, graded, and even more without.

We could take a lot of time to learn about them, and put them on ebay - but that would take a lot of time that we don't really have. Is there a reputable auction that would take the whole collection, selling them individually or in lots? I'm open to any ideas or suggestions - we're not in a big rush.

Thanks in advance!

oh thanks! that's helpful.

looks like it's going to be a time consuming process no matter what. Guess we'll store everything up and get around to it next year.

I'm sorry for your loss. The thread Dar posted has some excellent information. I also recommend this book:

It sounds like you aren't in a rush to do anything with the coins which is great. Take your time and feel free to ask any questions. There is a great group of people on this site!

Good luck, I am in same sell mode and it is worth the time to get a good feel for what you have to sell but don't expect full value for coins unless of course they are on the want list, lots of good advice here in the community.

Please post some samples of the collection(I'm guessing Canadian coins). If the collection has many valuable coins I would contact HA.com and have them liquidate the coins in their auctions.
