Sap Moderator Australia 16810 Posts	Posted 07/18/2014 9:46 pm The most distinctive feature of the script on your coin are the "serifs", the little pointy bits at the tips of the letters. You won;t find this on modern Persian or Arabic scripts, but it became fashionable around AD 1200-1300. This gives only a very approximate date range. These coins are supposed to be dated, but the date is either written out in full or written in a quasi-numerical code. I will need better pics to try to find and read it. But many of these coins have important details like the date and mint-name either off-flan, damaged or worn or simply too badly written in the first place to be decipherable.
