So I'm pretty sure this is a spooned dime. First time I've ever come across one. So I stared at it and stared at it (after a long day at work) and couldn't figure out what was different. So my 8 year old comes up and says 'Why does this have the smooth rim of a penny? And the color?' And all I'm thinking is 'I'm rich!! woo-hoo! rare error coin!'. Anyway, now that I'm grounded again, thought I would post these photos. :p

Cool story and I think your right on with spooned or Dryer Coin. I would say the 8 year old earned him or her self a partial finders fee? Thanks, Doug.

I've tried hammering a quarter into to make a ring out of it, and I'll tell you it doesn't work like that. Getting the edge smooth and all is very difficult while hammering its edges.

So, from the mushy devices and the even edge and high rims, I'd say Dryer Coin for sure.
