Hey guys My grandma got me a couple cool older coins for my late birthday but I was curious about one of them! I have only been collecting for about 7 months now and I was just curious if this Morgan had been cleaned? I don't know how to tell if it's just in REALLY good shape or has been cleaned up.

And if you all could just ballpark a value of it!
(A beautiful piece of history nonetheless!)

Regards all, Trevor.

It is lightly cleaned, so yes.

I would say it was a long time ago from these photos.

You can generally tell if a coin has been cleaned by inspecting the dated area and/or the mint mark. It's difficult to get dirt out of the interior of 9', 8's, 0's, P's & D's. If it's not the same color there as it is the rest of the coin, it's safe to say it's been cleaned at some point.

I see nothing that screams cleaned at me. Lightly circulated with some heavy hits, but cleaned? Cant say for sure.

Possibly.
The surfaces are rather dull.

Yeah, I can't really tell based on those photos. All of the luster appears to be gone, but this could just be from circulation. Can't say for sure.

I don't see anything that screams cleaned either but cleaning detection is difficult and often people judge a coin to be cleaned that hasn't been because of issues can that occur other ways.

I believe it has been. The coloring around the "E Pluribus Unum" and "USoA" is an indicator

For that level of preservation, it looks lackluster to me.

I am not saying earlier that it is always hard to tell if a coin has been cleaned. There are coins where it was obvious like little scratches, or an unnatural color like coppers that are orange, or coins with no luster that are really shiny like they have been polished.
