Nice condition but looks like a die chip to me. Did you match markers? John1

I was also thinking a damaged MM punch? I noticed that the link you posted shoes a s-s-s MM and you said yours is a s-s-s-s MM so yours can't be the one in the link in a later die state. John1

Yeah John1 I noticed that also it matched rpm 2 - which is listed as s-s-s-s on wexlers site FS-25-1947S-502 but on most example including slabbed rpm 2 they are s-s-s I think only the early die might be s-s-s-s. and pgcs say S/S I have no clue .. I been trying to find a good refference with images for Washington quarter RPM and DDO / DDR

The missing remnants of the S were most likely cleaned up later in the dies life to make it not so obvious. They probably did some die polishing in that area. I seem to remember some VAMs with similar occurrences, but I can't seem to find a reference to them at this time. This is the closest I could find and it is opposite what you would think it would be. http://www.vamworld.com/1882-O+VAM-3

7TF ...I think you are correct the early stage example has less polished away and would match up with 3rd party graders examples
