Hello I am looking for information on this note! I came across it last night and have yet to really find any info. My family is from this small town and I am really interesting in purchasing it just don't know anything about it (worth, how many were printed etc.) If someone would have any help or a resource that has any information would be greatly appreciated

Thank You!

Of course as with any note, condition is a large factor,,,but, National Bank notes are somewhat different! The size of the city that the bank was in ,,,and how many charters were in that town are also value factors.....National collectors are a special group,,,so, demand is also a factor.....the above note looks to be in excellent condition....it is likely a very valuable note,,,however the serial number is rather high,,,so, there could have been a large number issued....I would find a copy of the Kelly national banknote book,,,it's great reference,,,but only a guide...also consult Heritage Auction for closed auctions...just my opinion

I have Kelly's book and Census CD.

It shows 30 large, 7 small (the serial number on your note wasn't listed)

Value-wise I have no idea.

The Spencer NB of Spencer issued 6,644 sheets of large-size blue seal $10 notes. That's not a really low output, but it's not high either. Value of this note would really depend on its condition. A rough estimate would be $300+ with the high-grade examples being a lot more expensive than a circulated one.

Are you planning on collection National Bank Notes? It is a somewhat pricey book anywhere from $70 to $80 for the 6th edition.

If you're interested in acquiring this book there are some on ebay now.

You can check auction sales records and approximate values online at Heritages website, ha.com

It is a good place to find the basic information (for free) that you are looking for. You just have to register on the site to get full access.

If you start seriously collecting Nationals then you need a Kelly Book.

BTW - The last almost uncirculated Spencer $10 note sold in Jan of 2013 for right at $650. (The note you posted a pic of looks to be high grade.)

With national currency, the buyers don't really care about the type of note or condition - it is the imprinted bank that collectors care the most about. Based on experience, customers will pay the same price for a VG and a XF if they want the bank badly.
