I recently started collecting Colonial Notes. Since I grew up in Delaware, I am working on collecting one of each denomination for Delaware notes from 1776.

This is a Delaware 1776 2 shillings 6 pence note (PCGS 63 PPQ):

This is a 1776 Delaware 5 Shillings note (PCGS 63 PPQ):

Interesting signators as well! Dr. John Mckinly was elected President of the State General Assembly in 1777. Whereas Boaz Manlove was accused of treason and escaped to a British Warship. Page 56 http://archives.delaware.gov/eBooks...Delaware.pdf

12 pence= 1 shilling
so 4 shillings and 12 pence would be 5 shillings.

On the 5 shilling note you will see a crown next to the coat of arms which represents one crown. The 10 Shilling has 2 crowns and the 20 shilling has 4 crowns on it.

After Boaz Manlove was accused as being a Tory, James Sykes signed notes as the third signer. James Sykes, an American lawyer and politician, served as a lieutenant under Caesar Rodney in the Dover Militia and was a delegate for Delaware for the Continental Congress in 1777.
