I know there's a Gold Coins of the World book, but as to silver, I think you're going to be stuck obtaining (purchasing or from a library) the Standard Catalog of World Coins for the specific century you're looking at (or obtaining several books with different centuries). I'm not sure of what other types of books would have mintages (mostly) and ASW (actual silver weight), other than Krause books.

You're talking thousands and thousands of coins. That would be a HUGE catalog. Groszy pretty much nailed it, Krause catalogs would be the way to go. If you want a more condensed version of that I would go with catalogue of the worlds most popular coins by Fred reinfeld. I believe there are a few revisions that have updated the list. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/48718...obot_redir=1

I think that the Krause catalogs covering the last 400 years of World coinage would provide the best infoirmation.
If there are very many of tens of thousands of silver coin types available to consider, a very large data base would be needed.
If it is possible that all of them are fakable, or have already been faked, knowledge and experience in these is also required. Much harder to get a comprehensive data base on THIS aspect of silver coinage; that is why we need the services of a professional numistmatist occasionally, and why it is a very good idea to be part of the CCF.

There was a good website, currencydebasement, which provided a fairly comprehensive listing of circulation silver coins of the 19th and 20th century for every country. Alas, it's been offline since July 1.
