I was in London yesterday and was very sad to see that the Vera Trinder shop in Bedford Street near Covent Garden has closed. The business will now be run through Prinz Publications in Cornwall.

This was about the only place I knew where one could actually go in and browse and look through a wide range of coin accessories and coin books!

It's odd. I was in Lille (France) last year and there were half a dozen coin / stamp shops with in a walk of where we were staying.

Near me? What was Dolphin Coins (now more bullion / world coins than what I'm after) a few towns away, but therwise really not much.

Seems that in England coin dealers are either diversifying to more like pawn shops or specialising online.

As to stamps .. that all seems to be overseas collectors or rarities to me, despite what SG says. Go to any auction around here and you'll see books of stamps going for next-to-nothing or unsold.
