Did I see in the list that the 2nd of the Birds of Prey series is a Bald Eagle? It was listed as a premium bullion coin, like RCM did with the Peregrine.

The owls legs actually look like they belong on a rabbit...

Flipping through the pages of August's catalog far too quickly tells me I'm not too thrill with this batch...In fact, for me it's the weakest grouping of 2014.
Designs and themes appear far less creative, recycled, and lack any artistic flare...
The owl looks like the head was cut and paste on an eagle's body.
What's with the machine gun trainings?
Is a War training theme really necessary for commemorating any war?
Could this design/theme suggest the creative brains at the Mint are starting to collectively cramp?
If your not convince yet, take a long hard look at the casa loma coin...how long will it take for you to look away?
Same can be said for that smorgasbord of a design with sheep's and puffins and a very poor depiction of a lighthouse...cartoonist is far too complimentary CC..
And enough already on the tree canopy concept - one great design could have made it a classic instead of the 4 or 5, " hit and miss" approach...
Or, are we simply being set up for something(s) super special come September...?
Remember last September? You bet you do!!

Didn't you learn, guys, that "unsold coins" have no meaning for RCM, since their revenue increases year from year?

Yes, the dealers will do sales and discounts, but not RCM.
They've already made their production "cheaper", by minting too much NCLT, so organizing kind of sales will make the products even more cheap.

No one wrote about Majestic Maple Leaves.

For sure - they will be offered as a single coins - all of them.

Now, I like the idea of Maple Leaf boxed set (even created mine using the O Canada 5-coin box), but here.....I see no way spending ~$1000 on the set with repeatable design.
Specificly the idea of the "Proof with jade inlay" - looks bad on the picture. Kind of no effort to do the set more attractive, using imagination and different Maple leaf design.
It might be will be popular, probably in Europe....

Probably will get one (for my set), and I still dream to get an affordable attractive platinum con - might be from this set?

I like the grazing Bison from the silver O Canada series.

The gold single Buffalo would be very attractive if it wasn't so tiny and overpriced.

As for the rest, I'm not very impressed.

I can't say I like the baby puffin design but I did like the baby beaver coin. The autumn allure looks nice but I have to agree the series perhaps was 1 to many in a short amount of time to make me want to collect them all. In the past maple colour designs were once a year.

Also in the rep e-mail but not in the catalogue is an additional coin series.

"new! 1 oz. Fine Silver 4-Coin Subscription
Portrait of a White-Tailed Deer"

Composition: 99.99% pure silver
Finish: Proof
Weight (g): 31.39
Diameter (mm): 38
Edge: Plain with edge lettering
Face value: 20 dollars
Artist: Desmond McCaffrey

$99.95 per coin

Looks pretty good; wonder if this is another commissioned series like the bison and eagles.

How many Maple Leaves coins do the RCM put out every year? It seems like dozens, and hundreds over the past decade.

Another eagle coin? Too many for my taste.

Have the Mint run out of ideas? Same thing month after month.

Zero purchases this month, last month, and the previous month. Have bought nothing from the Mint since the glass frog coins.
