This silver rupee is very nice but unfortunately written in full Burmese letters and numerals.

I possess this coin for a long time but still not know what the legend on the observe tells.

What I know about on the reverse side is shown here for you to confirm.

The coin is 11.52 grams and 31.0 mm. The mint year was 1866 rather than CS1214 (1852 or 1853) shown on the coin.

Can anyon tell what the legend tells on the observe? Thanks.

Henry

The last post on this web page states that the obverse side reads "Tazeik taw" which translates as "Royal seal/stamp".

The third post on this web page (German) states that the obverse side reads "Tazeik taw" which translates as "Royal stamp".

Gary, thank you your links and information. Though it is a minute information added to this coin, it helps and I don't misunderstand the legend around the peacock is the name of the country. To explore history and knowledge from the coins collected will add fun to this hobby. Henry
