If I had Proof sets from 61 - 63 of the penny through half dollar, would there be an advantage to breaking open the set to have the franklin halfs, which are ms 63 or better by all info I can gather, graded by a service and then sold etc, or is there some value to the set as a whole if some of the coins may not be worth much more than silver value or dinged through the plastic packaging?

I would say no for MS-63 , Now If they appear to be MS-65 and Higher or maybe they exhibit superior frost or toning then I would also say yes.

MS-63 for those years is pretty common. MS-65+ or FBL might be worth it.

They would not be MS but PF coins , correct? I have a dozen proof set Franklins I cut out of the cellophane myself and have been wondering the same thing, and a couple of the Quarters are Cameo, how much of an extra premium might those bring in?
