I don't know how to make it bigger from a scan and I'm not sure I can get it much bigger with my digicam...I'll see what I can do...

I'm leaning towards the coin being retooled, but a bigger picture would be nice.

From that photo it looks like a Roosevelt dime. I've seen them before somewhere. I'm not a big fan of Roosevelt dimes though. One thing I've noticed though is there are very few error ones compared to the Mercury dimes.
If you can't make a better of bigger photo, just give as detailed description as possible.

It looks like someone lightened up his hair. Without a close up, I can't give you a definite answer.
