I have a couple of these, don't know who made them, don't think it was in '64, you're right about the value.

Prime Minister Pearson I believe worked for the U.N. and wanted to create a uniquely Canadian flag to fly since our old one featured a Union Jack and the Canadian consensus was to be a "real country". During the design of the flag the vernacular term thrown around for the flag was the "Pearson Penet" but when it was finished Canada decided to refer to it as our "Maple Leaf".

Canadian Artistic Dies made this, but I'm not certain when. They are quite common, but a nice medal to have.

Quote: ...the vernacular term thrown around for the flag was the "Pearson Penet".. The "Pearson Penant" was a flag with three maple leaves and blue borders, it was Pearson's personal choice, but his minority government was unable to get approval for it. The adoption of our flag was a very divisive issue in 1964. My father who previously considered Diefenbaker as evil incarnate placed a Union Jack in our yard and joined the Conservatives in demanding a referendum on the issue.Different flags popped up in our neighbourhood that year,it seemed the Pearson Penant was most popular. One neighbour had a flag with a fleur-de-lis and a maple leaf, he accused me of defacing it when I delivered his newspaper, my father felt obligated to go over and "straighten him out". I liked the new flag when it was adopted, the Union Jack in our yard came down after Christmas and a few Pearson Penants lingered in our area for a while. I enjoy having my flag medallions as a reminder of those days. The Pearson Pennant is third down on the left

Looking at some (okay, most) of those flags makes me very happy with what we have.

top right could easily be a Pepsi logo, directly below it looks like something from Molson Canadian.
personally I like the top left

I second Chequer,s comment of choosing our current flag from the other designs.

here's a few more examples, a handful of these on ebay right now, but none with enameled bronze like the OP's small non-enameled bronze and the enameled silver dollar sized (nickel?)

Thank you for catching that DBM, I hate to spread misinformation, especially when I am just new to these forums.

I'm sure that in my time here I've inadvertently spread misinformation as well. No biggie, we're all here to learn.
