This coin set has been showcased here before, by another CCF member, and was even listed in the "For Sale" portion of CCF... Needless to say, I bought it, and I absolutely love it. I decided to write an article about this error for Errorscope. It is the second known set with Canadian 1-cent coins, the other set, ironically, is also the same date, but slight different orientation of the planchets. That second set was featured on the cover of Terry Campbell's 1995 book "Canadian Error Coins: An Introduction". I was quite surprised to see that my coin set graced the front cover of the July 2014 Errorscope Journal. For those of you who are fans of error coins, I do think that CONECA is a worthwhile organization to join, and their journal is top notch. Here is the other known example, it graced the cover of Terry Campbell's error booklet (published by Unitrade Press in 1995). I had permission from the publisher to use this image in my Errorscope article.

Can I just get confirmation of what I think I am seeing with these 2 sets. Are these 3 separate cents, which somehow made it onto the same die, and then were struck, causing facets of the image to make it onto each of the 3 coins?
Am I correct?
If this is so, is there any history on how these coins were reunited? Were they all found in the same roll? did the mint pull them out of the general population?
Is there any images of either set separated slightly to see the effect?
These are very spectacular, thanks for sharing.

ace_ftw, they didn't leave the mint in a roll or bag or any normal channel. They were made for fun and profit by mint employees and snuck out the back door.

OH, ok and the mint hasn't demanded them back, or prosecuted them? but for how they did it was my description correct?
