If I could have only one Morgan dollar, it would be this variety. These always go through the roof (for me at least) whenever they appear.

So PCGS actually recognizes and gives that name to the examples that they receive?

Interesting. I wonder if one can cherry pick these in lower grades, or does the mark wear away quickly?

These are exceptionally rare. They can be found in lower grades, but they're difficult to find in any grade. I personally have never seen an unattributed example.

Jon, to answer your question, PCGS will attribute and label any varieties they consider to be "major varieties" in their sets. That goes for any series.
