Gill3814, there are a number of varieties from 1965 to present. My best reference is the book, "Strike It Rich WITH POCKET CHANGE." by Ben Potter & Dr. Brian Allen. Mine is the 3rd Edition. There maybe an update but, the book has good pictures to help identify. I'm sure there are other reference books or on-line sites.
I like it because it is a quick reference while I'm sitting going through my change.
Used books can be found on-line and are a bargain.
Happy hunting!

4th edition covers 1965-2009 quarters but only has some the bigger varieties.

Here is a listing of doubled die varieties from Variety Vista:

Quarters have a listing there as well.

Coop I hate to say it but I don't think variety vista is a good reference for die varieties. There is no pictures to work with on there and most new people would not understand what the listings are. CONECA needs to have pictures of the doubled dies listed to help the new coming collectors to the hobby.
