Official Contest Rules
BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS CONTEST, ALL ENTRANTS AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES.
1. ELIGIBILITY
Open to Canadian residents who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence by the date they enter the contest. Employees, agents and representatives of the Contest Organizer or of its subsidiaries, their advertising and promotional agencies or suppliers of prizes, products, services and material related to this contest, as well as members of their immediate family (brothers, sisters, children, father, mother), their legal or common-law spouse and any individuals with whom such employees, agents and representatives are domiciled, are not eligible.
2. CONTEST PERIOD (i.e. duration of the Contest)
The
Royal Canadian Mint Coin Contest is held by the
Royal Canadian Mint (the "Contest Organizer"). The contest (the "Contest") begins at 12:00:00 a.m. ET on August 1, 2014 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on August 31, 2014 (the "Contest Period").
3. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. To Participate in the Contest, the Entrant (the "Entrant") must visit the Contest website at
http://www.mint.ca/contest (the "Contest Website") during the Contest Period and fill in the participation ballot (the "Participation Ballot") by providing the following information:
3.1 His or her e-mail address (mandatory), language of preference (mandatory) first and last name (optional), mailing address (optional), and day time telephone number (optional);
and
3.2 A confirmation that the Entrant has reached the age of majority in his or her
province or territory of residence; and
3.3 A confirmation that the Entrant agrees to be bound by the Official Contest Rules.
An Entrant who has correctly submitted an eligible Participation Ballot is automatically registered for the Grand Prize draw, and potentially for the Early Bird Registration Prize draw and/or a Daily Prize draw (see Section 6.1 and Section 6.2 for more details).
Participations to daily draws are cumulated for the Grand Prize draw.
4. LIMITS
Entrants must respect the following limits, otherwise they may be disqualified. For the purpose of these Official Contest Rules, a "day" means a 24-hour period beginning at 12:00:00 a.m. ET (i.e. midnight)
4.1 At any time during the Contest Period, Entrants may only use one email address even if they have more than one;
4.2 There is a limit of one entry per person per day.
5. PRIZES
5.1 Grand Prize
There is one (1) Grand Prize to be won consisting of a ½ kilogram Fine Silver Coin â€" Howling Wolf. Approximate retail value ("ARV") of the prize is $1,099.95.
5.2 Daily Prizes
There are thirteen (13) Daily Prizes to be won, each consisting of a single coin or single collection set:
a) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 18th will be eligible to win: 1 oz. Fine Silver Coin â€" Peregrine Falcon. ARV of this prize is CDN$89.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 19th.
b) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 19th will be eligible to win: 1 oz. Fine Silver Coin â€" Caribou. ARV of this prize is CDN$89.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 20th.
c) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 20th will be eligible to win: 1 oz. Fine Silver Coin â€" Legend of Nanaboozhoo. ARV of this prize is CDN$99.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 21st.
d) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 21st will be eligible to win: 1 oz. Fine Silver Coin â€" Baby Beaver. ARV of this prize is CDN$99.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 22nd.
e) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 22nd will be eligible to win: 1 oz. Fine Silver Coin â€" River Rapids. ARV of this prize is CDN$99.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 23rd.
f) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 23rd will be eligible to win: Pure Silver Proof Set â€" 100th Anniversary of the Declaration of the First World War (2014). ARV of this prize is CDN $229.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 24th.
g) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 24th will be eligible to win: 1/10 oz. Pure Gold Coin â€" Wolf. ARV of this prize is CDN$279.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 25th.
h )Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 25th will be eligible to win: 1/10 oz. Pure Gold Coin â€" Beaver. ARV of this prize is CDN$279.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 26th.
i) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 26th will be eligible to win: 1/10 oz. Pure Gold Coin â€" Polar Bear. ARV of this prize is CDN$279.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 27th.
j) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 27th will be eligible to win: 1/10 oz. Pure Gold Coin â€" Caribou. ARV of this prize is CDN$279.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 28th.
k) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 28th will be eligible to win: 1/10 oz. Pure Gold Coin â€" Orca. ARV of this prize is CDN$279.95 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 29th.
l) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 29th will be eligible to win: ½ oz. Fine Silver 10-coin Subscription â€" O Canada. ARV of this prize is CDN$399.50 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 30th.
m) Ballots submitted by August 1st - August 30th will be eligible to win: Fine Silver 10-coin Subscription â€" Exploring Canada. ARV of this prize is CDN$549.50 â€" The draw for the winner will be on August 31st.
5.3 Early Birds Registration
There is one (1) Early Bird Registration prize to be won, consisting of ½ oz. Fine Silver 12-Coin set â€" O Canada. ARV of the early bird registration prize is CDN$899.95.
6. SELECTION PROCESS
6.1 Early Bird Registration Prize
Early Bird Registration draw will be held at 12:00:00 p.m. ET (i.e. noon) or shortly thereafter, on August 18, 2014 at the offices of the Contest Organizer, at 100 Murray Street, Ottawa, Ontario. A random draw will be held of all eligible entries duly recorded during the pre-registration period, from 12:00:00 a.m. ET August 1st to 11:59:59 p.m. ET August 17th inclusively. The draw will be impartial and computer generated.
a) Odds of winning. The odds of an entry form being selected for the Early Bird Registration Prize is dependent on the number of entry forms registered in accordance with these Official Contest Rules.
b) Limit. Limit of one Early Bird Registration Prize to be awarded.
6.2 Daily Prizes
Daily draws will be held at 12:00:00 p.m. ET (i.e. noon), or shortly thereafter, everyday from August 19th to August 31st inclusively, at the offices of the Contest Organizer, at 100 Murray Street, Ottawa, Ontario. A random draw will be held of all eligible entries duly recorded since the beginning of the contest period from 12:00:00 a.m. ET August 1st to 11:59:59 p.m. ET of each day (an Entrant has until 11:59:59 p.m. ET to register for a daily prize for which the draw is held on the next day). The draws will be impartial and computer generated.
a) Odds of winning. The odds of an entry form being selected for the Daily Prize is dependent on the number of entry forms registered in accordance with these Official Contest Rules.
Limit. Limit of one Daily Prize per person.
6.3 Grand Prize
Grand Prize draw will be held at 12:00:00 p.m. ET (i.e. noon) or shortly thereafter, on September 1st, 2014, at the offices of the Contest Organizer, at 100 Murray Street, Ottawa, Ontario. A random draw will be held of all eligible entries duly recorded during the Contest Period. The draw will be impartial and computer generated.
a) Odds of winning. The odds of an entry form being selected for the Grand Prize is dependent on the number of entry forms registered in accordance with these Official Contest Rules.
b) Limit. Limit of one Grand Prize to be awarded.
7. AWARDING OF THE PRIZES
Grand Prize
7.1 Before being declared the winner of the Grand Prize, the selected Entrant must first:
• Be reached by email, at the sole discretion of the Contest Organizer, within eight (8) business days of the draw. If a selected entrant is reached by email, he/she must reply in accordance with the instructions given in the email, as the case may be. Return of an email prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate Entrant;
• Correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical, electronic or otherwise, a mathematical skill-testing question, located on the Declaration and Release form;;
• The selected Entrant will also be required to complete and return to the Contest Organizer (or its authorized agent) by the deadline specified in the documents a written declaration and release (the "Declaration and Release"), declaring that the selected Entrant is eligible to win the prize in accordance with these Official Contest Rules and releasing Contest Organizer, and all of its respective directors, officers, owners, partners, shareholders, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns from any liability in connection with this Contest, or the use, misuse or possession of any prize related thereto. Prize will only be awarded to verified winner;
• Upon request and in a timely manner, provide an identification card with photograph.
7.2 Return of any prize notification as undeliverable, inability to reach the selected Entrant, failure of the selected Entrant to respond to the notification within two (2) business days of the first attempt by the Contest Organizer, failure of the selected Entrant to provide any required proof of eligibility, the completed Declaration and Release, or other documentation within five (5) business days, failure to comply with any of the conditions above or any other condition in these Official Contest Rules or refusal of the prize will cause the selected Entrant to be automatically disqualified and forfeit the prize. In such a case, the Contest Organizer will hold a new random draw to award the prize according to these Official Contest Rules until an Entrant is selected and declared a winner.
7.3 Within 2 business days following receipt of the completed Declaration and Release form, the Contest Organizer will communicate with the Entrant selected for the Grand Prize to inform him/her of the manner in which he/she shall take possession of the prize.
7.4 The Contest Organizer will send the Grand Prize to the winner by mail or messenger within 4 to 6 weeks after he/she is declared a winner.
Daily Prizes
7.5 To be declared winner of a Daily Prize, the selected Entrant whose entry has been randomly drawn must:
• Be reached by email, at the sole discretion of the Contest Organizer, within eight (8) business days of the draw. If a selected Entrant is reached by email, he/she must reply in accordance with the instructions given in the email, as the case may be. Return of an email prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate Entrant;
• Correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical, electronic or otherwise, a mathematical skill-testing question, located on the Declaration and Release form; ;
• The selected Entrant will also be required to complete and return to the Contest Organizer (or its authorized agent) by the deadline specified in the documents a written declaration and release (the "Declaration and Release"), declaring that the selected Entrant is eligible to win the prize in accordance with these Official Contest Rules and releasing Contest Organizer, and all of its respective directors, officers, owners, partners, shareholders, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns from any liability in connection with this Contest, or the use, misuse or possession of any prize related thereto. Prizes will only be awarded to verified winners.
7.6 Failure to comply with any of the conditions above or any other condition in these Official Contest Rules or refusal of the prize will cause the selected Entrant to be automatically disqualified and forfeit the prize. In such a case, the Contest Organizer will hold a new random draw to award the prize according to these Official Contest Rules until an Entrant is selected and declared a winner.
7.7 For each of the Daily Prizes, the Contest Organizer will send the prize winner his/her prize by mail or messenger within 4 to 6 weeks after he/she is declared a winner.
Early Bird Registration Prize
7.8 To be declared winner of the Early Bird Registration Prize, the selected Entrant whose entry has been randomly drawn must:
• Be reached by email, at the sole discretion of the Contest Organizer, within eight (8) business days of the draw. If a selected Entrant is reached by email, he/she must reply in accordance with the instructions given in the email, as the case may be. Return of an email prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate Entrant;
• Correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical, electronic or otherwise, a mathematical skill-testing question, located on the Declaration and Release form;
• The selected Entrant will also be required to complete and return to the Contest Organizer (or its authorized agent) by the deadline specified in the documents a written declaration and release (the "Declaration and Release"), declaring that the Entrant is eligible to win the prize in accordance with these Official Contest Rules and releasing Contest Organizer, and all of its respective directors, officers, owners, partners, shareholders, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns from any liability in connection with this Contest, or the use, misuse or possession of any prize related thereto. 7.9 Failure to comply with any of the conditions above or any other condition in these Official Contest Rules or refusal of the prize will cause the selected Entrant to be automatically disqualified and forfeit the prize. In such a case, the Contest Organizer will hold a new random draw to award the prize according to these Official Contest Rules until an Entrant is selected and declared a winner.
7.10 The Contest Organizer will send the Early Bird Registration prize winner his/her prize by mail or messenger within 4 to 6 weeks after he/she is declared a winner.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
8. Entry forms are subject to verification by the Contest Organizer. Any entry form which is incomplete, fraudulent, submitted late, showing a wrong email address or phone number or otherwise noncompliant shall be rejected and will not entitle the Entrant to be entered in the Contest or to win a prize.
9. All entries submitted become the property of the Contest Organizer and none will be returned. The Contest Organizer assumes no responsibility for lost, delayed, destroyed, illegible, or incomplete entries. Proof of submitting an entry is not proof of receipt by the Contest Organizer.
10. The Contest Organizer reserves the right to disqualify an Entrant or to cancel one or several entries by an Entrant who participates or tries to participate in this Contest by using methods that do not comply with these Official Contest Rules or that are unfair to the other Entrants (e.g. entries exceeding the authorized limit). The Contest Organizer reserves the right to report such an Entrant to the appropriate legal authorities.
11. The prizes must be accepted as awarded and may not be substitute, transferred to another person, replaced by another prize or exchanged in whole or in part for cash, except as provided in the section below.
12. The Contest Organizer reserves the right to replace a prize (or a portion thereof) with one of the same kind and of equivalent value or, at its sole discretion, with the cash value of the prize (or a portion thereof) as indicated in the Official Contest Rules.
13. The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest.
14. Each winner releases and holds harmless the Contest Organizer, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, their affiliates, their advertising and promotional agencies, and their employees, agents and representatives from and against any damage resulting from the acceptance or use of the prize.
15. Each winner acknowledges that from the moment they receive the winning confirmation letter from the Contest Organizer, the fulfillment of prize-related obligations becomes the full and sole responsibility of the various service suppliers and manufacturers, as the case may be.
16. The Contest Organizer, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, their affiliates, their advertising and promotional agencies, and their employees, agents and representatives, are not responsible or liable for any of the following that may limit or prevent any Entrant's participation in the Contest: malfunctioning of any computer component, software or communications line; loss or lack of a communications network; or any transmission that is faulty, incomplete, incomprehensible or erased by any computer or network. The Contest Organizer, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, their affiliates, their advertising and promotional agencies, and their employees, agents and representatives are also not responsible or liable for any damages or loss that may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by the downloading of any Web page or software or by the transmission of any information related to participation in the Contest.
17. The Contest Organizer, its officers, directors, employees, agents, promotional agencies, venue owners, event or sponsorship partners and prize suppliers (the "Released Parties") are not responsible for any human or computer-generated or other technical error in the administration of the Contest; or for the unavailability or loss of entries, illegible or incomplete entries, erroneous potential winners or winner announcements; or if an event or an experience associated with all or part of the prize is delayed, rescheduled, cancelled or otherwise unavailable for any reason. The Released Parties make no warranty, guarantee or representation of any kind concerning the prize and disclaim any implied warranty. By entering the Contest, entrants agree to comply with these Official Contest Rules and forever release and discharge the Released Parties from any and all actions, causes of action, claims, costs and payments for damages, loss, injury, or death, however occurring, as a result of participating in this Contest or accepting and using or misusing the prize.
18. The Contest Organizer does not warrant that access to or use of the Contest Website will be uninterrupted during the Contest Period or error-free.
19. Subject to the jurisdiction of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec, the Contest Organizer reserves the right to amend these Official Contest Rules at any time and without notice to entrants.
20. The Contest Organizer reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend this Contest in whole or in part, or to terminate it, should human intervention or an event take place that could modify or affect the administration, security, impartiality or conducting of the Contest as provided in these Official Contest Rules, subject in Quebec to approval by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec if necessary.
21. In the event that the computer system cannot record all the Contest entries or scores during the Contest Period for whatever reason, or if participation in the Contest must be terminated in whole or in part before the end date of the Contest as provided in the Official Contest Rules, the Contest Organizer, at its sole discretion and without liability to any Entrant or intended entrant, may proceed with the selection from among the entries duly registered or recorded during the Contest Period or, as the case may be, up to the date of the event terminating participation in the Contest.
22. In no event shall the Contest Organizer, its affiliates, their advertising and promotional agencies, the suppliers of goods, materials or services related to this Contest, and their employees, agents and representatives be required to award more prizes than those indicated in these Official Contest Rules or to award a prize otherwise than in accordance with these Official Contest Rules.
23. Persons who enter or try to enter this Contest release the Contest Organizer, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, their affiliates, their advertising and promotional agencies, and their officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives from any liability for damage they may incur as a result of their participation or their attempt to participate in the Contest.
24. Each winner or potential winner authorizes the Contest Organizer and its representatives to use his/her name, photo, likeness, statement regarding the prize, place of residence and/or voice for publicity purposes, without any additional form of compensation and agrees to execute and return a more complete Release to this effect before being awarded a prize.
25. Any decision by the Contest Organizer or its representatives regarding this Contest is final and without appeal, subject to a ruling by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec on any issue under its jurisdiction or any other authority having jurisdiction in any other province of Canada.
26. For the purposes of these Official Contest Rules, the Entrant is the person whose personal information appears on the entry form. It is to this person to whom the prize will be awarded if he/she is selected and declared a winner.
27. For Quebec residents, any litigation respecting the conduct or organisation of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
28. No communication or correspondence related to this Contest shall be exchanged with Entrants except as provided for in the Official Contest Rules or at the Contest Organizer's initiative.
29. Entrants' personal information collected for the purposes of the Contest will be used only to administer the Contest. No commercial or other communications unrelated to the Contest will be sent to Entrants, unless they have otherwise agreed to receive such communications.
The Personal information that you provide when you register and enter this Contest is being provided to Contest Organizer and its authorized agents and not to Facebook Twitter or Pinterest.
30. Personal information may be transferred to third parties that are retained by the Contest Organizer to perform storage, management and other similar functions, subject to the laws applicable to the protection of personal information and the Contest Organizer's internal policies regarding personal information. Files containing personal information will be kept at the Contest Organizer's or its service provider's offices or on their servers and employees who require access to personal information in order to fulfill their job requirements will have access to these files. To the extent provided by applicable law, the individuals concerned may request access to the file containing their personal information and the correction of such information by contacting the Contest Organizer at 100, Murray Street, 4th floor, Ottawa, Ontario, K1N 0A1.
31. If a section of the Official Contest Rules is declared or deemed illegal, unenforceable or invalid by a competent court, that section shall be considered invalid, but all unaffected sections will be applied within the limits of the law.
32. Any attempt to deliberately damage the website of this Contest and/or any related site or to sabotage the legitimate course of this Contest may constitute a violation of civil and criminal laws. Should there be any threats of violations, the Contest Organizer reserves the right to reject the Entrant's entries and obtain legal or equitable relief under the applicable laws.
33.In case of contradiction between the English and French versions of these Official Contest Rules, the meaning that best conforms to the subject matter of the said rules shall apply.
