Who else saw Barry Chappell auction off a selection of certified toned Morgans tonight?

Comments?

If you saw it on TV or in the "As seen on TV' isle at Walmart it is too good to be true.

I saw nothing illegitimate, nor would've I expected to, as Barry Chappell definitely has some bonafides in the world of Morgans. It was an interesting group with some striking examples that certainly didn't go cheap.

I watched for a minute or so but turned it off before the auction started.

Did the toners go for astronomical sums?

The most expensive one went for $2,100 if I remember correctly. A few went for the open, the lowest of those being $600 I think, one got set aside for not getting the open bid of $900. One had a $1,600 open but he switched to a $0 open, and then got a single bid of $850. Ouch.

Just went to his website and the two coins shown are valued over $100,000. Insane!

I watch his show and also Rick Tomaska's show to see what they're offering.

Earlier in the day one of them (I can't remember which one) was selling 1921 Peace dollars NGC certified Genuine for $179 plus shipping.

I guess they have buyers for their coins otherwise they wouldn't be on tv.

Also somebody with credibility within the hobby, and I did see recently that he has a show of his own apart from his monthly segment on Art & Coin TV, albeit that's with Jack McNamara, so I'm not sure what the interconnection there is exactly.

I will say, he is the first tv personality in coins that I have ever seen refer to or show a grey sheet on tv.
