I'd grade it VG-08, and would pay around $65-$75 for it. I love the chocolate toning and problem-free surfaces!

I say vg8 as well. I would only pay about $40 for it because if I was being it right now it would only be to resell. If I was wanting to keep it, I think $65-$75 would be far, but closer to the $65 side.

with VG8. 70$ is a fair price. I'd try to buy it for 60$ or under.

To heck with 15 opinions. There seems to be a consensus among CCF members. VG-08 with a value of $60-75.
The big reveal: G-06 Details, environmental damage. I paid $35 for it from Bill Fivaz. I couldn't pass it up at that price.
The surfaces are completely smooth, no granularity, and there is a sludge covering the surfaces that look like caked-on finger oils, not dirt. It's probably a candidate for a crack-out.
So that means either of 3 things:
1. ICG is wrong and graded this ultra-conservatively
2. CCF is wrong
3. My pictures are horrible and terribly mis-representative.
What do you fellow CCF'ers say?

I'd say crack it out acetone and Verdi-Care⢠the coin, I'll bet it's a VG no problem, unless there are some scratches under the gunk we can't see. You did good no matter what, Bill is a nice guy and always sells his coins for a fair price.

VG08, how is it G06 with part of "LIBERTY" showing? Even the RedBook short definition of VG is part of "LIBERTY". People also assume that it was in a problem free slab when you post a "versus". It is usually a challenge not if we agree or not. I would not acetone copper because people have seen them change colors after doing so. Only soak it in distilled water and Verdi-care if it will help the coin or prevent further damage.
