After watching so many bidding wars on ebay for other sellers I finally had one for one of my coins. It was a nice AU 1930 Standing Liberty quarter. I picked it up for $25, had it listed as a "Buy It Now" for $49, but it didn't attract any interest.

So I put it up for auction with a $30.00 open. The auction clearly said the coin had light wear. Two bidders got into it and it sold for $122.50. The winning bidder paid immediately.

As I watched the auction bidding I started to worry that I'd missed something, but couldn't find anything online about a 1930 rarity.

I can only hope for more auctions like this.

Congrats!! It can freak you out sometimes when one time an item doesn't get a peep and the next time is like a madhouse.

One of the first times I put an item on ebay (I think they were baseball cards) I had a bidding war and I thought ebay was an easy way to make money. Since then, however, I either have rarely gotten one bid an item or the item goes month after month with no bites.

It's all part luck and part timing.

Probably got two bidders who both needed that coin to fill one of the last empty spaces in their collection. Congrats!

ebay auctions usually do not get much action these days. Great research and knowledge should be used before you sell any coins on ebay. We are now using an ebay store and buy it now only . No more auctions, the seller usually gets killed!

I have been selling since 2009 and have gone almost exclusively to "Buy It Now" listings. I do accept serious offers.

These days I only put coins up for auction if they've been sitting in my store for a long time or I need some fast cash.

Now I almost always put a higher starting bid on my coins.

I know that anguish of having a nice coin sell for a pittance when the auction starts at 99 cents.

The buyer received the coin and left positive feedback for the coin. This one sure was a fun auction for me.

Now my fingers are crossed for more of them!

Gotta love an ebay bidding war- at least when you're the seller! Not quite as much fun when you're the buyer.
