Hello All, I know the gold Kennedy goes on sale on Aug 5th. This is listed on the U.S. Mint websites for a Aug 5th release date. I don't see a date for the silver Kennedy halves. I have read about the 4 coin silver set on this site. The mint doesn't have a release date for the silver. The U.S Mint Product Schedule shows the release of the clad and the upcoming release of the gold, but no mention of the silver. Does anyone have any input on when the silver Kennedy's are going on sale?

All the Mint has said so far is "Fall." Sounds like the October-November time frame is likely.

Thanks commems,
That's good to know. It frees up some funds to buy other things this month. I have no intention to buy the gold Kennedy. I thought I would buy one, but I like the idea of 4 different silver types over the one gold coin.
I can't wait to see what mike mezack charges for his FDOI PR70 gold Kennedy's

I saw the 4 coin silver set at the ANA show today. The enhanced unc is UGLY. If is completely matte with the mottos and bust more matte in appearance than the fields.

Quote:Landry said the Mint is also expecting to release the four-coin 2014 50th Anniversary Kennedy half dollar Silver Coin Collection sometime in mid-October. Narrowing the release date down a bit....

I've always liked the Kennedy half dollar, great man, great coin. $99.95 is a good price even if there is no mintage limit. There are but a hand full of great American presidents that mattered to the whole world, Kennedy was one.

I'm very interested in this set too, the Kennedy brothers are my heros!! It's a very sad story that impacted many. I'd like to read what people have to say about the set, as they should be in hand now.

@pc50: I ordered two sets and received them about a month ago (one for me, one to be given to my nephew for his birthday). My first impression of the set was that the packaging overwhelms the coins. Don't get me wrong, the special case the US Mint prepared is attractive and well-made, I just found it to be a bit much for four half-dollar coins. Regarding the coins...Seeing the four different finishes on the coins side-by-side definitely highlights their differences - especially the proof vs. reverse proof coins. All of the coins in my two sets were without any visible minting flaws/imperfections - I was happy with the quality of both sets. Considering your interest in JFK and RFK, you also might look into a two-piece set the US Mint released back in 1998. It features an uncirculated silver dollar honoring RFK and a matte-finish silver JFK half dollar. The set typically sells for $200+ due to the JFK half dollar - it is the only way for collectors to get the 1998 matte-finish coin so the set appeals to commemorative collectors as well as Kennedy half dollar collectors. Good luck!

The PCGS Registry Sets, even the Complete Variety set (one of everything, BU and proof), exclude the 1964-2014 gold and the silver Kennedy 2014-dated coins, even though they include the 1998 SMS matte finish coins as well as other things like all of the Satin Finish PD coins. To me this seems the height of arbitrariness. They include the 2014-S silver Kennedys in Commemorative Registry Sets only! Grrr. Best Regards, George
